Course Description:
Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) was developed in the 70's by the aviation industry. For its impressive results, RCM is considered the most effective method to determine consequences management policies of physical asset failures. The SAE JA1011 (Evaluation Criteria for Reliability-Centered Maintenance) the American Society of Automotive Engineers was established in 1999. Its purpose was to clarify the minimum requirements for an analysis process to be considered in accordance with the original method, as conceived by the aviation industry. The class focuses on the practical teaching of the foundations of the RCM according to the SAE standard in conjunction with the introduction of reliability engineering tools that complement and reinvent it. Reliability Centered Maintenance Reengineered (RCM-R®) uses the original method assisted by a series of techniques based on ISO standards that facilitate its application and improve its results. This class is the first in a series of courses covering this extensive subject. The course serves as a basis for those professionals who aspire to become certified analysts, facilitators or instructors in the application of RCM-R®. The recent publication Reliability Centered Maintenance Reengineered (RCM-R): Practical Optimization of the RCM Process by authors Jesús R. Sifonte and James V. Reyes-Picknell is used as support material.
•To know the Scope and Benefits of the RCM Applied according to SAE Standard JA1011
•To understand the Requirements of a Genuine RCM Process
•To understand the Role of RCM Within the Asset Management Context
•To learn how to apply the RCM Process to Plant Assets
•To understand how to select effective Failure Consequence Management Policies
•To distinguish the attributes of the RCM-R® Enhanced Process
•To understand the Steps and Requirements for an Effective Implementation of RCM-R® in your Organization
•to establish the basis for certification of RCM-R® analysts, facilitators, and instructors.
